The Not So Great Train Robbery

The last train robbed in the west was right here in San Antonio, 50 years ago. However, this train robbery was less legendary and more laughable– The train robbed was no other than the Eagle Line No.99, better known as the San Antonio Zoo Train.
While the robbery was very much real, it's hard to remember that two grown men held up the miniature train without a bit of humor. While the culprits managed to relieve the train passengers of more than $500 cash, they were soon caught and prosecuted accordingly. This train robbery remains the last train robbed in Texas, and the only miniature train robbery. In celebration of the 50 year anniversary, the San Antonio Zoo is hosted a special reenactment, complete with dressed up robbers with bubble guns.
