When immigrants first arrived in the Hill Country, they had very little to start them off. It's no surprise that the early homes of Hill Country were that of the Vernacular Style– a style of architecture defined by the use of local materials and knowledge. However, what is surprising is that these homes, built and designed by the everyday person, can still be found in today's homes throughout the Hill Country.
